GuitarCoop presents “The Guitars of Sergio and Eduardo Abreu”, the second album by the legendary Abreu Duo, recorded in 1969 at EMI Abbey Road Studios in London and originally released worldwide by CBS in 1971. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic guitar recordings of all time, the album firmly established Sergio and Eduardo Abreu as one of the most remarkable chamber ensembles of the 20th century.

The program brings together works from different periods and styles, unfolding with a near-suite-like continuity and revealing the duo’s unmistakable sound: absolute clarity, technical mastery, and exceptional musical insight. The repertoire spans early music by Jane Pickering and a canon by Telemann, alongside works by Scarlatti, Bach, Christian Scheidler, and Fernando Sor, all interpreted with refinement and balance.

The second half of the album is devoted to 20th-century Spanish music, featuring works by Granados, Joaquín Rodrigo, Albéniz, and Manuel de Falla, including performances that have become reference recordings in the guitar duo repertoire. Combining virtuosity, tonal beauty, and stylistic authority, this album stands as a cornerstone of the classical guitar discography.
