Born in 1990 in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, João Camarero was raised in the city of Avaré, in the same state, where he began his musical studies at the age of eight and his guitar studies at the age of fifteen. He studied at the Tatuí Conservatory and the Escola Portátil de Música in Rio de Janeiro. With a distinguished career as a soloist, he has released three albums and won the 2015 MIMO Instrumental Award and the Novas Competition. He has performed alongside the Bahia Symphony Orchestra, the Campinas Symphony Orchestra, the USP Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, with which he premiered "Cantos e Contos do Brasil," a concerto for guitar and orchestra by Sergio Assad. He has toured four continents with his solo work. One of the most sought-after musicians today, the list of artists he has collaborated with is extensive: Maria Bethânia, Ney Matogrosso, Alaíde Costa, Paulinho da Viola, Caetano Veloso, Dori Caymmi, Francis Hime, Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Raimundo Fagner, among countless others. As a composer, he has partnered with major names in Brazilian popular music, such as Paulo César Pinheiro, Paulinho da Viola, Moacyr Luz, and Cristovão Bastos. He has participated in the recording of numerous albums as a musician, arranger, or musical director. He was director of IREE Cultura, consultant, and curator for Cultura Artística. He currently plays in the legendary Conjunto Época de Ouro founded by Jacob do Bandolim, is Artistic Advisor for Special Projects and Institutional Relations at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, curator and artistic director at Baretto – Fasano, is a Board Member of the Deliberative Council of the Association of Musicians, Arrangers and Conductors (AMAR-Sombrás) and a Member of the Advisory Council of the Guimarães Rosa Program of Cultural Diplomacy of Itamaraty.
