Formed by Uruguayan Cecilia Siqueira and Brazilian Fernando de Lima, the Duo Siqueira Lima has established itself as an international reference and one of the leading guitar duos of today. Closely connected to the legendary Duo Abreu and Duo Assad, they are regarded as direct heirs of the great Brazilian tradition of guitar duos and are frequently cited as the natural continuation of this legacy. Fernando and Cecilia met in 2001 at the Pró-Música/SESC International Guitar Competition in Caxias do Sul (RS), Brazil, when, in a surprising result, the jury awarded a tie for first prize between the two guitarists. Their connection was immediate, and the following year the idea of performing together emerged—initially on an occasional basis, as both were still primarily focused on their solo careers. From 2007 onward, they have been fully dedicated to the duo, and since then their musical and professional growth has been continuous and ascending. They currently maintain an intensive concert schedule, performing in prestigious halls and festivals across more than 40 countries, as well as appearing as soloists with various symphony orchestras. In this context, they premiered two works dedicated to the duo: “Lendas Amazônicas, Concerto for two Guitars and Orchestra” by Marco Pereira, with the Gävle Symfoniorkester (Sweden), and “Portais Brasileiros No. 4 – A Saga dos Violões, for two guitars and chamber orchestra” by André Mehmari, with the Russian Philharmonic (Russia). A defining feature of Duo Siqueira Lima’s work is their ability to move naturally and elegantly across different styles. Their repertoire, developed mainly through their own arrangements, spans a wide range of music from classical to Brazilian popular music. In addition to their arrangements, the duo has made significant contributions to expanding the repertoire for two guitars through collaborations with prominent Brazilian composers. In recent years, they have premiered works by Sérgio Assad, André Mehmari, Marco Pereira, Elodie Bouny, Paulo Bellinati, João Luiz Rezende and Guinga.
