New Music for Guitar

Over the past 100 years, the history of the guitar has been deeply shaped by an ongoing process of curation and collaboration between composers, performers, publishers, and record labels. It was within this creative ecosystem that some of the instrument’s most significant works emerged, establishing composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Manuel de Falla, Manuel Ponce, and Joaquín Rodrigo as central figures in the repertoire.

In the 21st century, Guitarcoop continues this tradition through the New Music for Guitar project. The initiative focuses on producing first recordings of contemporary works for guitar, in high-quality audio and video, embracing a wide range of aesthetic approaches. Beyond documentation, the project plays an active role in building, preserving, and disseminating today’s guitar repertoire, fostering connections between composers, performers, and audiences around the music of our time.
