Vento Brando – João Camarero is the second album by Brazilian guitarist and composer João Camarero, confirming his place among the leading voices of contemporary Brazilian guitar. The recording features works by major composers such as Radamés Gnattali, Garoto (Aníbal Augusto Sardinha), Cristovão Bastos, Agustín Barrios, Canhoto da Paraíba, João Lyra, Raphael Rabello, and Paulo César Pinheiro, alongside original compositions that highlight Camarero’s distinctive artistic voice.
Rooted in the choro tradition and initially inspired by Dino 7 Cordas, Camarero developed his own path by moving fluidly between popular and classical worlds. Influences ranging from Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy to Heitor Villa-Lobos blend seamlessly with the legacy of Brazil’s great guitar masters, resulting in a refined, expressive, and deeply musical language.
The album’s title reflects his artistic philosophy: Vento Brando (“Gentle Breeze”) expresses a commitment to balance, elegance, and musical substance over mere display of virtuosity. With impeccable technique, tonal clarity, and a strong interpretative personality, João Camarero once again demonstrates the vitality and creative renewal of the Brazilian guitar tradition.
