In Touch of Time, Anabel Montesinos offers a journey through Baroque repertoire transcribed for the guitar, focusing on works by Domenico Scarlatti and Johann Sebastian Bach. The album explores the fusion between Baroque tradition and the Spanish identity of the guitar, emphasizing contrasts of light and shadow, introspection and clarity.
Scarlatti’s sonatas, originally written for the harpsichord, are presented in versions for two guitars, both performed by Anabel, who creates a coherent and expressive dialogue between the voices through refined technique and musical insight. Bach’s Invention in F major provides a bridge between two composers born in the same year, highlighting shared structural clarity despite their different compositional approaches.
The program culminates with Bach’s monumental Chaconne from the Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin, here performed on solo guitar. In this work, Anabel leads the listener through a deeply expressive journey marked by contrast, solemnity, and reflection, revealing the guitar’s rich polyphonic and emotional potential.
This release stands out for its interpretive depth, artistic maturity, and its compelling exploration of the Baroque repertoire through the expressive lens of the guitar.
