In this album entirely devoted to the music of Egberto Gismonti, Brasil Guitar Duo presents a project of significant artistic and musicological relevance. The recording is the result of more than 25 years of research, collaboration, and interpretative development, reflecting the duo’s deep affinity with the composer’s distinctive musical language.

With the exception of Alegrinho No 2, the only piece originally written for guitar, all works were arranged directly from Gismonti’s own piano recordings, carefully preserving his musical intentions. This long-term transcription process lends the project both artistic authority and documentary value.

The inclusion of the 7-string guitar expands the ensemble’s sonic range, enabling a faithful exploration of the orchestral textures, polyphonic writing, and rhythmic complexity that characterize Gismonti’s style. The repertoire balances virtuosic rhythmic works with lyrical compositions, highlighting the breadth of the composer’s output.

Released by GuitarCoop, this album reinforces the label’s commitment to excellence in Brazilian repertoire and to advancing the artistic and expressive possibilities of the classical guitar on the international stage.
