Duo Siqueira Lima – Release.
Winner of the “Music Professionals 2015” Award, in Brazil, and the “Brazilian International Press Awards 2014”, in the United States, Duo Siqueira Lima is a guitar duo that overcomes several barriers of musical periods and styles.
The Uruguayan Cecilia Siqueira and Fernando de Lima, from Minas Gerais, met at the “II International Guitar Contest Pro-Música/SESC”, in 2001, in the city of Caxias do Sul (RG) where they surprisingly shared the first prize. This event was decisive for the formation of the duo and the beginning of a promising international career.
In 20 years of work, the duo has performed in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. They are requested for festivals dedicated to the guitar around the world and have performed on stages such as Sala São Paulo (São Paulo), Lincoln Center (New York), New World Center (Miami), Salle Paderewski (Lausanne – Switzerland), University Main Building (Uppsala – Sweden) and Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam).
The dedication to this work has yielded six albums so far, the most recent being released by the labels GHA Records (Belgium) and GuitarCoop (Brazil). The CD “The Art of Duo Siqueira Lima” (GC – 2016), where they recorded the unpublished version made by the duo of Bachianas Brasileiras N. 4 by Heitor Villa-Lobos, was very well received by critics, being considered by the French magazine “ Guitare Classique” as one of the best guitar albums of the year.
In this year of 2022, celebrating their 20 years of career, they release the album “Violonístico” (Independent) with a totally original repertoire, premiering works for two guitars – mostly written especially for the duo – by Brazilian composers Sergio Assad, Marco Pereira, Elodie Bouny , João Luiz, Geraldo Ribeiro, Guinga and Paulo Bellinati. “Finely detailed like a Fabergé Egg” The New York Times – January 22, 2014
